Think you have what it takes to be a teen battle chef? In two weeks, Pennypack Farms & Education Center will sponsor an 8-week youth development program called Teen Battle Chef. Teens in grades 9 through 12 are encouraged to come out and learn to dice, julienne, and read and understand recipes.
With obesity and diabetes on the rise, it’s important that our youth become educated and healthy eaters. The program will help put our young eaters on the right path. They will learn everything from food systems to gardening. Students will be able to challenge their culinary skills, develop leadership qualities, and learn to value teamwork.
After they become experts in meal planning and nutrition, the teens will battle it out in a friendly competition, putting their skills to the test—friends and family will determine who prepared the most delicious and fresh meal.
The program will take place over 8 Thursdays, starting March 3, 4:30-6:30p.m. at the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 620 Welsh Road, Horsham. The fee is $110 plus a $40 materials fee.
