Made in Philly: Mayor Nutter commits to using local goods and services

Start
Last Friday, Mayor Nutter made perhaps what is his strongest commitment to American workers and business owners. The Mayor signed a non-binding order creating a Philadelphia-, Pennsylvania- and American-made preference for all commodity and work bids. This means that when the City is putting an office together, they’re giving preference to locally-made items, like paperclips, furniture and telephones, and local companies for service contracts.

From the press release:

“By signing this executive order, the City of Philadelphia codifies a preference for local businesses and products,” said Mayor Nutter. “We are committed to supporting our local economy here in Philadelphia, but also in Pennsylvania and the United States. Bolstering our manufacturing and professional services industries will get our country back on track.”
The full executive order can be viewed here.
