YUMM: AUNI debuts bike-led mobile produce market

Start

Image via upenn.eduThe Agatson Urban Nutrition Initiative (AUNI), a program of UPenn’s Netter Center for Community Partnership, will debut its Youth Urban Mobile Market (YUMM) at the premier Youth Grower’s Market this Friday.

The pedal-powered cart will be full of fresh produce that members of AUNI have grown themselves, and will supplement the entirely youth run market’s other fresh offerings from MLK High School’s Seeds for Learning, Saul’s Henry’s Got Crops, PUFFA, Earth Keepers and Walnut Hill Farm.

AUNI is a program that teaches both children and adults how to grow, cook, and most importantly, eat fresh, healthy food. The hope is that through education and access the program will combat and ultimately erase the high rates of obesity and malnutrition that exist in many Philadelphia communities.

Youth Grower’s Market

Friday, August 5th, 5 – 7 p.m.

Malcolm X Park, 51st and Pine St.
