7/12 Academy Explorers Camp

The Academy of Natural Sciences is calling all children to join their Summer Camp! Each week has a theme and this week the children are diving into Big Foot, The Jersey Devil, and Nessie (Lochness Monster). It isn’t too late to sign your child up, and families have the option to register their children for only the week that interests them.

7/14 University Dining Days 

Starting Thursday, July 14, take part in a diverse culinary experience in University City.  University City is offering a two-week eating extravaganza where participating restaurants will offer a three-course dinner for $15, $25 or $30, respectively. Look for places that offer locally-sourced menus like Dock Street Brewery, Rx Restaurant and Marigold Kitchen.

7/14 Picnic Potluck

Join the South Philly Food Co-op and bring your favorite dish to share for a Picnic Potluck dinner at Gold Star Park.  Have your dishes warmed up by 7p.m. and get ready to meet and mingle with like-minded folks who want to  indulge in good conversation, food and music. The Philadelphia Ukulele Orchestra will be in attendance, playing plenty of summer jams, so be sure not to miss out!

7/14 Anti-Smog Rally

The Clean Air Council and the Sierra Club invite concerned citizens to gather next to an 18-foot inflatable inhaler at Independence Mall to declare independece from respiratory diseases exacerbated by air pollution. The demonstration will display support for stronger EPA regulations on clean air protection, so design your own “pro clean air” sign and join in!
