Spring Update: Hybrid X Team’s warm weather happenings

Start

The West Philly Hybrid X Team‘s (EVX Team) spring schedule is packed with a variety of events — everything from attending educational workshops to putting together a fundraising event.

on March 5, the team presented at the STEMcx Conference and Expo in Baltimore, a day long conference focused on inspiring youth to explore areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.

On April 15, 2011, EVX Team will take their EVX GT car to the Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International Race Track. This event will feature alternative-fueled vehicles and kick-off the track’s opening weekend.

At the end of April, the team’s Spirit of Innovation Team will be heading to California to present their work on the Electric Very Light Car. In addition, there will be a weekend visit to Lynchburg, Virginia to visit Edison2, the Automative X Prize winner.

The team doesn’t focus solely on creating tricked-out cars either, they also put their energy into building youth leadership skills at afterschool and weekend meetings. Philadelphia’s First Toastmasters is currently working with the team’s students to put their public speaking and presentation skills to the test through a Youth Leadership Workshop.

You can help support the EVX Team too (the team raises funds for car parts, trips and refreshments)! On April 6, join the team at their Dessert Reception Fundraiser gathering. Click HERE, to download the invitation and reply form.
