Chloe Coscarelli, a 22-year-old chef, recently scored a blow for vegan bakers everywhere, winning Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. From the New York Times‘ Well Blog:
“Of all the shows we’ve done, the thing I hear the most is, ‘Were those vegan cupcakes really that good?’ ” Ms. Nelson [a judge and owner of Sprinkles Cupcakes in L.A.] said. “People are in sort of disbelief that this vegan chef beat out the rest of the competition. My answer is yes, they were delicious. It was everything we were looking for in a cupcake.”
Philly eaters perhaps won’t be quite as surprised—our city is full of vegan bakeries crafting delicious snacks (North Port Fishington Cookie Company and Sweet Freedom come to mind). Either way, here cupcakes look delicious.
