Tile Time: Earthstone’s Community Garden Mosaic

Start

Earthstone Tile Works, a new South Philly tile shop, will be featured in our upcoming November issue. But, before you read all about this family-run business, pencil their Saturday Mosaic Tile Workshop into your schedule.

Earthstone owners Tiffany and Jason Ferraro, along with a group of friends, started a community garden by their homes in South Philly (right near South Philly Taproom). They need help to keep the garden up and running, and are offering interested participants a chance to learn from experienced tile artists (including Earthstone’s own third generation tile artist Jason Ferraro) for just $5. Kids five and up are free with adult registration, so some major family bonding could be built into this artistic learning experience.

This is a great chance to promote local art, local food and to help beautify one of the city’s many abandoned lots. Tools will be provided, just register ASAP and get your artistic juices flowing.

Saturdays October 9, October 23 & November 13, 9 a.m. – Noon, 1835 S. Hicks St., to register, call 267-266-2811 or e-mail maryjwb@gmail.com; and check out the event page on Facebook.
