Hot Hot Heat: Decade is Hottest on Record

Start

National Oceanic and Atmospheric AdministrationIn case you haven’t noticed, it’s been hot this summer. Really hot. Temperatures that used to be August-heat-wave material are now par for the course. And we’re not alone, Russia is currently suffering through its highest heat levels on record.

All that makes it easy to digest the recent National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration report that this decade has been the hottest on record. From the New York TimesGreen blog:

“The records come from many institutions worldwide,” Dr. Jane Lubchenco, the agency’s administrator, said in a statement. “They use data collected from diverse sources, including satellites, weather balloons, weather stations, ships, buoys and field surveys. These independently produced lines of evidence all point to the same conclusion: our planet is warming.”

I’m thinking about going into the fan business.
