Pedal your way to fresh butter on warm toast, literally.
Artist Tim Eads has built a pedal-operated butter churn that also generates enough electricity to power a toaster. On April 24 he’s giving you the chance to test it out yourself. Join Eads at FLUXspace for a reception and Butter Cycle Performance. He’ll be giving viewers a chance to hop on the bike themselves, pedal up some butter and toast, and then enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Cream from local dairies and Metropolitan Bakery bread will be used in the performance. Art in the Age is also donating their pre-Prohibition spirit ROOT to mix with the sweet buttermilk, creating adventurous cocktails for the opening reception.
Eads has titled his show A Legitimate Waste of Time and the butter churn, along with other works in the show, prompt viewers to question their physical space and create alternative paths for interacting with architectural spaces.
