In celebration of upcoming opening day (this Monday!)—and as a way to spread the smile I had slapped across my face as I perused these images—I’ll share with you this link to “Phanatic Around Town,” a summer public art promotion sponsored by The Phillies and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC).
I spotted the “All-Starry Night” Phanatic in Rittenhouse yesterday, not realizing that I’ll have the unexpected pleasure of these rotund figures popping up across town all summer. The 20 incarnations were painted by local artists and will be on display through August. There’s also a blog.
I love the Phanatic. (Especially that time he snuck up on my stepfather). Go Phils.
