Weather Warnings: Extreme Conditions Nationwide

Within the last two weeks, through a strange cocktail of coincidence and boredom, I have watched 2012 and (re)watched The Day After Tomorrow. It was hard not to think of those recent climate-themed destruction smorgasbords while witnessing this:

And turns out Minneapolis isn’t the only place experiencing extreme weather. The New York Times‘ Green Blog offers a quick rundown: Heat records falling in California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona; Arctic winds bringing intense cold to the Midwest and eastern United States; record rainfalls in the Pacific Northwest causing mudslides and flooding; and cold in Florida causing the deaths of at least 244 endangered manatees (manatees!). Could be a wild winter.
