Any Occasion: New local shop offers more than Girls Can Tell

Start

At East Passyunk’s Occasionette, quirky hostess gifts and fun housewares await. Owner Sara Selepouchin opened Occasionette after finding national success with her line of diagram-printed products, Girls Can Tell, and local success with a tiny retail section in front of her production space.

“After taking note of how many people were buying Girls Can Tell items to give as gifts,” says Selepouchin, “I was inspired to open a shop where people could find my work, along with a curated selection of the best items being produced by artists around the country.”

At Occasionette, the locally-produced, hand-printed, whimsical Girls Can Tell products pair perfectly with specialty barware, stationery, party supplies, housewares, art and accessories. A reusable lunch bag adorned with a prancing unicorn plus a set of glittering star barrettes equals the perfect girlfriend gift. A baby onesie with a butcher’s diagram of a pig goes nicely with a Mason jar cocktail shaker for your foodie friend. And Philadelphia takes center stage here: pretzel-themed necklaces, stationery and tea towels coexist with kitschy city maps and prints of Philly dogs. With locally-made, affordable products and a love of the community, Occasionette makes holiday shopping a treat.
