Our April issue gave you the scoop on Soil Kitchen, a temporary public art project, and it's opening its doors this Friday! Stop by the location on Second Street and Girard Avenue in Northern Liberties, and enjoy free soup in exchange for soil samples from the neighborhood! The installation will be open until Wednesday, April 6th.

Friday, April 1, 2:00pm-9:00pm

In celebration of First Friday and their opening for the season, The Trolley Car Diner on Germantown Avenue is giving away free water ice from 2-9pm and a free beer tasting from 5:30-7:30. First come, first serve. Closer to Kelly Drive? Stop in to the Trolley Car Cafe on 3269 S. Ferry Road for free ice cream from 2-9pm.

Saturday, April 2, 7:00pm-10:30pm

The Junior League of Philadelphia, Inc. (JLP) is hosting the Green Carpet Event, an exciting eco- themed fashion show to raise funds for the JLP and its community projects. Join JLP for a night filled with fashion by local designers and sponsored by an array of the region’s best businesses. Spend your night with friends and fellow fashion enthusiasts at a pre-show cocktail party followed by an eco themed runway show featuring styles and trends from Arcadia Boutique, the JLP Thrift Shop, Lilly Pultizer, Onassis Clothing LLC, Priscilla of Boston, Sagets Formal Wear, Whitney Eve, and more. This weekend, the Morris Arboretum is partnering up with the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia to host its annual Japanese Cherry Blossom celebration. The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival is an initiative of the Japan of America Society of Greater Philadelphia with the goal of fostering a better understanding of the cultural, social, and education customs of Japan in the United States. The Solar Energy Industries Association and Solar Electric Power Association team up for the PV America Solar Conference, at the Convention Center. Expect over thousands of buyers/experts/industry big shots. Monday, the 4th, is "public day." Exhibit doors are open for those interested in checking out the latest in solar tech, registered or not.
