Bid to Build: The Center for Culinary Enterprises

Start

Image courtesy http://philafood.net/wp/The Enterprise Center CDC (TEC-CDC) is currently accepting requests for proposals from General Contractors interested in developing the organization’s Center for Culinary Enterprises (CCE).

The CCE made an appearance in our December 2010 issue, and is a shared-use culinary business center that will be housed in a former supermarket on 48th Street between Spruce and Pine. One of the more exciting parts of the project is that, once completed, the CCE will be the first food incubator of its kind in the nation. Though this alone warrants the need for serious proposals from contractors who will be dedicated to the project’s mission, possibly more important is that this center could shape the career paths of local youth by training them in culinary skills, and providing them with valuable and paid experience. Not to mention that the CCE will add to our city’s growing list of LEED certified buildings.

Here are the specifics on submitting bids:

The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation (TEC-CDC) is seeking sealed bids for the construction of the “Center for Culinary Enterprises”. Bid Documents may be examined at TEC-CDC, 4548 Market Street, Philadelphia, and are available for purchase at the office of NRI, 1015 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. All bids are due 11:00 AM (EST), February 18, 2011 at TEC-CDC, after which they will be publicly opened and read aloud. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held 4:00 PM (EST), January 26, 2011, at TEC-CDC.
