Shutter Happy: Where to Bike Philly Photo Contest

Start

Grid contributor Julie Lorch (of “Along for the Ride” fame) is hard at work drafting a new guidebook on cycling in Philadelphia called…wait for it…Where to Bike Philadelphia. The guide is the latest installment in an international series published by an Australian company.

Before publication, the Where to Bike team is hosting a photo contest:

Photographs should exemplify the joy of bicycling in and around Philadelphia. They must depict at least one person with a bicycle. Subjects riding a bike must be wearing a helmet. Subjects sitting on a bike, walking a bike, or standing or sitting next to a bike should not be wearing a helmet so their faces are more visible.

The photos must be taken on one of the following bike paths or trails, and the entry must identify approximately where on the path or trail each photo was taken.

Visit the website for more information on how to enter and the types of pics they’re looking for. The deadline is Sept. 15. $1,000 in cash prizes is available for this juried competition. In addition, winners will have their photo(s) published—with a photo credit—in Where to Bike Philadelphia, as well as on the book’s accompanying website.
