Get involved in supporting sustainability AND social justice!
Volunteers wanted to help with vendors, setup, sound/video/photography, media, children's activities, community outreach. Volunteer ON April 17th or anytime up to the day to help promote the festival!
Come to an open volunteer meeting for more info: Saturday, March 27th, April 10th from 2-4pm at the Uhuru Solidarity Center, 3733 Lancaster Ave, West Philly.

Social Change to Fight Climate Change – Africa’s Resources in African Hands!
Earth Day will be an all day free festival in the park with speakers, music, food, vendors and information booths. Free workshops will be held on such topics as social and environmental justice, community gardening and many aspects of building a sustainable community. The Food Trust weekly farmers market will be open and there will be activities for children. The flea market offers crafts, clothing, records, jewelry, ethnic arts and crafts, collectibles, great food ,and recycled goods of all kinds. Speakers include Ramona Africa on the 25th anniversary of the MOVE bombing and Ayesha Fleary of the All-African People’s Development & Empowerment Project. Live music from Plum Dragoness & the Elements, Yoni Gordon & the Goods (from NYC), Coco Sol, Timi Tanzania, The Divine Lorraine, and more! Poetry by Rasheed Bey. Also featuring workshops on organic gardening, urban farming & community agriculture and sustainability with The Food Trust, Nic Esposito, The University City High School Gardens students, and other local experts. A benefit for the African Village Survival Initiative, black-community led programs for sustainable energy, collective food production and economic self-reliance and development. The AVSI empowerment programs are being duplicated throughout the U.S. and the world.
